I have set the date settings correctly but the posts always seem to be listed as a day previous. So to avoid misunderstandings I will date and time all my posts until this problem is solved. Minor technical glitch.

Welcome back from the break. :)
Hi everybody, welcome back from the long CNY break. I hope you've had a nice time visiting relatives and paying respects to your elders; not to mention partaking in some traditional Chinese New Year goodies. :)
Here are some updates for the week.

Here are some updates for the week.
Letters and consent forms:
- Principal's Welcome Letter, 'Warm Greetings from RVPS - This letter went out last week on 21/1. Please ensure your parents read this as it highlights the school's direction, targets and rules for the year. Information I'm sure your parents will be interested in. Please have them initial and pass them to your honourable chairperson by this Friday, 30/1.
- Sports Enrichment Programme (SEP) - Apologies that the letter was given out yesterday instead of the 21st. This letter highlights weekend enrichment activities that the school will be conducting starting from 14/2. In semester one the activities are Wushu, Soccer and In-line Skating. Let your parents have a look at this and return the consent forms with Edusave or cash/cheque to the general office by Friday, 30/1.
- Remedial Consent Form - This went back yesterday informing your parents of any remedials that you might be involved in. Currently, Mother Tongue (Thursday 3-4pm) is the only subject that requires full attendance for the entire class. The other subjects require only selected individuals to attend. A letter from your parents will be required if you are unable to attend remedials for any reason. :) Anyways, they are for your benefit so please attend if you have been identified.
- The Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and Tests are now available at the bookshop. If you haven't gotten yourself a copy please try and do so as these books cannot be bought from Popular or any of the commercial stores.
- The Books we will be using for English are in. The breakdown is as follows:
- Preston English Guide: $7.60
- The Prince and The Pauper: $7.50
- What's Up! Subscription: $12.00
I will be collecting for the the Preston Guide first so please bring $7.60 by Friday, 30/1.
I will start to actively collect the money for the other books from Monday to Friday next week.

The First Week of School
Good day all,
This first week of school has gone by very quickly and I'm thinking alot of you are getting into the groove of things. :) I have some updates for you.
Books
Firstly, the issue of books. Quite a number of the books that we need this year are sold out at the bookshop. We've made arrangements with the bookshop and they have already made orders for more. I know a few of you have not been able to buy a complete set so no pressure. :) The new stock should be in the bookstore within the next 2 weeks. In the mean time those who have not purchased their books will receive either photocopied worksheets or you can share with a friend in class.

We have decided that the class ring file colours will be:
Class Work
The spelling list was given to you today so please keep it well. :) Class voting has fixed the Spelling day for every Friday of the week so as not to clash with Mother Tongue Spelling which is on Thursday.
CCAs
Today was the first day of CCAs and one thing that alot of the CCAs might have done today would have been target setting using the 'GROW ME' model on pages 24 and 25 of the student handbook.
If this was not done today however don't panic. :) The CCA teachers of each of the CCAs have their own plans for doing this with you.
Have a Great Weekend! :D

Welcome to the Province of 5F
Dear Parents, Lords and Ladies of 5F
Welcome to the online home of 5F. Through this blog we will be communicating important information regarding schoolwork, announcements or other relevant matters that need to be shared.
Although it will not be compulsory for the most part, it would be a good idea to check back on this blog every now and then to find out the goings on for our class. To make things easier to remember, I will also be posting mundane matters like assignments (and their due dates :) ) as well as other important calendar items over the course of the year.
Let's work together to make this year an enriching and fun experience!
Cheers,
Mr Shawn Chak
Duke of 5F :)
